Standing Tall During a 12-hour Doctor Visit

From archive – June 13, 2008 –  journal entry –  This was my first experience of accompanying Garrett to one of his many mandatory doctor visits. Garrett and his mom had to drive 2 hours through morning traffic to reach Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital at Stanford by 8am. The will spend 8-12 hours at the hospital today. Most of the day Garrett will be in and out of appointments with a many different doctors, all of which are responsible for monitoring different aspects of his health. The last 4 hours today will be spent laying in a hospital bed to receive a much needed iron infusion.
