Jim Marshall, God father of rock & roll photography dead

Jim Marshall the ‘god father’ of rock & roll photography passed away recently. I had the opportunity of meeting him before his opening at gallery 291 in san francisco, 2008. He told us the stories behind each of photos in the exhibit. The one, I should say the two that stuck with me most: was the story of why jim morrison of the doors was flipping him off. The second, that he was offered $35K for his leica if he could prove that it was the camera that produced the image of Hendrix burning his guitar on stage at the monterey music festival. He did prove its authenticity, but did not sell the camera.
